Sensing the needs of the local community, a group of dedicated and talented church women organized Needleworkers in 1976. The purpose was to make items with their nimble hands for people in our community who are in need. Over the years, the membership has evolved, but their mission purpose remains. They still knit, crochet or sew lap robes, baby blankets, caps, booties, shawls and chair bags. They have donated thousands of handmade items to many local charitable organizations in those years. Currently, they are making articles for Virginia Home, Interfaith Council of Henrico and Neonatal Intensive and Emergency Care Unit of Medical College of Virginia.
The Needleworkers welcome anyone who is interested in outreach mission to join them. They meet on the last Tuesday each month (January through November) at 11:00 a.m. in Kemp Hall. They work and share lunch. Everyone is welcome to join the fun and fellowship. For more information, please contact the church office at 804-740-7083.
