The caring ministry of River Road is carried out by twelve ordained women and men who make up our Diaconate (our Deacons). They fulfill many of the congregational care needs of the church.
As stated in the Book of Order, the role of Deacons is one of compassion, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is the duty of the deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith. (G. 6.0401)
The Deacons are praying for each person and family at River Road Presbyterian Church. They foster trusting relationships within Care/Share groups. The Deacons telephone and visit members and are happy to provide support in times of need. They have delivered soup and meals, have delivered flowers, and have arranged for memorial receptions. They support those who are grieving and those who are sick as well as military personnel. They can provide communion to anyone who is homebound. Please keep the Deacons informed of any needs you have so that they may support you.
